WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS SÜD (#WDWS2022): Program overview
Almost 80 events have already been announced by various companies, districts, cities, universities and initiatives at the WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS SÜD 2022 (Week of Hydrogen South Germany); many more have announced their participation. The #WDWS2022 will take place from June 25 to July 03 in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland with support of the federal states.
The successful format DIE WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS, most recently with over 40 live and digital events and many film contributions, will take place for the fourth time from June 25 – July 3, 2022, this time in southern Germany as WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS SÜD 2022 (#WDWS2022).
Hydrogen (H2) is seen as the guarantor of the energy transition. It is expected to bring renewable energies into mobility, replace natural gas, and decarbonize industry and the chemical sector. How this works, what role the energy carrier plays in the energy transition, and what options arise for regions can be experienced live and digitally by everyone at the #WDWS2022.
The WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS has set itself the goal of communicating the topic of hydrogen in a credible and vivid way: Over the course of nine days, various companies, universities, networks, initiatives, districts and cities invite visitors to learn more about the energy carrier. Interested people can learn about hydrogen activities and H2 technologies in lectures, exhibitions, lab tours, expert talks or webinars.
A small excerpt from the event calendar (more at www.woche-des-wasserstoffs.de):
The events are organized by the participants on their own responsibility, open to the public and free of charge. However, registration is required for some events. More on the website.

Exciting for regionally interested companies and other stakeholders of the hydrogen economy.
June 29 in Hardthausen, Baden-Württemberg
The annual Hydrogen Day of the Technology Transfer Center Lampoldshausen, the DLR Institute of Space Propulsion and the Heilbronn Region Economic Development Agency will take place as part of #WDWS2022. Representatives of the energy, automotive and hydrogen industries as well as university scientists will present current developments. And: The DLR site in Lampoldshausen can be visited.
June 29 in Saarbrücken, Saarland
Under the title “Hydrogen Congress of the Greater Region – The Role of Hydrogen for Decarbonization and Structural Change of a Cross-Border Region”, a cross-border hybrid event of the Luxembourg Ministry of Energy and Spatial Development and the Saarland Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digital and Energy will take place at Saarbrücken Castle.
June 30 in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., an invitation is extended to the “Biergarten Talk” about hydrogen in the Biergarten of Mainz Castle. Participants include Prof. Dr. Türk (TH Bingen), Dr. Brosze (Mainzer Stadtwerke), Dr. Kolb (Fraunhofer IMM), Mr. Schneider (Prefere Paraform) and Mr. Braun (INNIO Jenberger).

The “Open Lab Day H2-Hanau” and “Open Lab Day H2-Darmstadt” will take place parallelly. The institutes open the doors to otherwise closed laboratories and offer interested citizens insights into their work.
July 02 in Erlangen, Bavaria
The H2-CityTour offers a diverse program on a hydrogen bus shuttle. From the town hall square, with information booths, stage program from H2.B, NürnbergMesse and H2 MOBILITY Germany and the exhibition of H2 cars to the hydrogen filling station Erlangen, where it is about the H2 filling station infrastructure, H2 in public transport, electrolysis and LOHC storage technology, to the southern area, where among others the Helmholtz Institute and the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology offer various lectures and hands-on activities.
03 July at the Mainz Energy Park, Rhineland-Palatinate
The Energy Park Mainz is a nationally and internationally acclaimed innovation project in the field of sector coupling and energy storage. Here, H2 is for instance produced from wind energy. The municipal utilities offer four one-hour guided tours on July 03. In addition to the numerous events, various films will also be released, e.g. by the Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, Linde, Stellantis and DWV.
About the WDW
